Armetiss project launch

RAPID RECAP:

  • ARMETISS project launched to enhance soldier systems with smart textiles.
  • The new textiles will improve capabilities like thermo-regulation, data monitoring, and communication.
  • The project includes 20 partners from 7 EU countries and Norway.

A European project to enhance soldier systems by harnessing the potential of smart textiles.

From 26th to 27th of June, members of ARMETISS Consortium, EDA and MoDs representatives gathered for project Kick-Off meeting in Oscarsborg Fortress in the Oslo fjord in Norway.

ARMETISS ambition is to unlock the potential of smart textiles for personal protection equipment through their integration into state-of-the-art soldier systems.

Those new generation of smart textiles have a wide potential for the soldier gear, not only improving the soldier’s capabilities through thermo-regulation, but also incorporating data-monitoring and communication systems.

The consortium will work both on cost-effective and environmentally sound solutions, to provide Europe with a distinct commercial advantage in the production of defence clothing and equipment. The excellence of ARMETISS soldier system lies in its flexibility, which is the result of the modular concept where any number of its elements can be worn (or not) without reducing any performance.

ARMETISS was selected under the European Defence Fund (EDF2022). The project encompasses major actors in soldier equipment, smart textiles and system integrators. In total it brings together 20 partners from 7 EU countries and Norway.
